As an iconic wardrobe respectfully recreated from the archives between 1981 and 2017, Editions carry forth the essence of ALAÏA: its eternal innovation. These pieces have been thoroughly reproduced by the ateliers according to their original designs, and reflect Monsieur Alaïa’s inimitable approach to timeless beauty, his sense of sensuality and his flawless technique.
With Editions, ALAÏA continues to develop on its own heritage and modernity. The Editions wardrobe comprises a permanent offering of cult pieces accompanied by a selection linked to the seasonal collection. In this way, Editions will extend and honour Monsieur Alaïa’s singular creative process.
From season to season, signature pieces were continuously refined and reinvented giving a sense of timelessness and allowing a Jacket of 1990 to match perfectly a skirt of 2008, or a skater dress of 2007 to live along with a body hugging dress of 1993.
This Editions wardrobe will include around 20 looks that shaped the history of the Maison and speak to Monsieur Alaïa’s mastery as a couturier who perfected cuts with a pioneering eye for the female body. Sculptural silhouettes, magical knitwear, impeccable tailoring and graceful draping – these signatures can all be found within the current offering. Selected from different collections, the pieces come together with a sense of rediscovery.
This autumn, the collection invokes movement and lightness.
Like the 2007 Crinoline Dress in bouncy knit lace, the 1986 Basque shirt and the unlined 2006 Charnière Coat, in Japanese wool cloth.
Editions emphasize the relevance and enduring standards of Monsieur Alaïa’s work above fashion. Transcending time, the pieces represent incomparable savoir-faire and creation in perpetuity. Heritage becomes transmission.
